Surrender Hill

Robin Dean Salmon and Afton Seekins Salmon are the heart and soul of Surrender Hill, an americana duo whose music weaves together soulful country, roots rock, and heartfelt storytelling. Now based in North Georgia, this husband and wife team has built a reputation for their rich harmonies, evocative lyrics, and a sound that bridges rural American traditions with a global perspective. With a discography spanning multiple albums, including their latest release, "Wild Country", to released August 7th, 2026, Surrender Hill continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their authentic, lived in songs and dynamic live performances.

Surrender Hill’s "Wild Country" is the latest heartfelt chapter, and across its 15 tracks, all written by the Salmons, the album chronicles deeply personal and resonant themes. At its core is the extraordinary story of how Robin and Afton met in the most unlikely of ways, after years of searching, heartbreak, and personal ups and downs, finally finding each other and building a life together. This thread of destiny, love, and redemption runs throughout, giving the record an intimate, lived in authenticity.

The duo also turns its gaze outward, addressing poignant current events and societal reflections. “River Of Angels” pays tribute to the devastating Kerrville, Texas flood, while “They All Stood Up For Love” confronts the hypocrisy and division that seem to have overshadowed love and kindness in America today. Standout tracks include the Tom Petty-esque “Straight Into The Light”, a catchy rocker about a weary wanderer finally breaking through the darkness to find hope and clarity, and “The Feeling Of You”, a tender, testimonial like ballad recounting the moment Afton first knew Robin was the one. “Witness” is a stirring, powerful song about living life with goodness and grace, written for their son Wren after his birth. Robin’s autobiographical song “Dancing With The Woman I Love” is a throwback in sound to his New York City days and illustrates the rich life he has led, capturing the truth that nothing compares to dancing with the woman he loves.

Produced and recorded by Robin Dean Salmon at Blue Betty Studio in Ellijay, Georgia, the album was mixed by Salmon and assisted by Matthew Von Doran, capturing a rich, organic sound that weaves textures of americana, rock, country, and western soul. “One of the key elements with the production of this album is that I set aside genre or boundaries, and I tried to serve the song and let each song develop into what felt natural”, says Robin. “That was something we struggled with for a short time, and we went through several approaches on a few songs before landing on what felt right”, adds Afton, continuing, “and some songs ended up with a pretty elaborate production while others came out completely stripped down. I think we ended up with a pretty colorful landscape because of that approach”.

The album shines with contributions from a stellar lineup of musicians. Matthew Von Doran and Mike Waldron on guitar, Dennis Parker on mandolin, banjo, and fiddle, Eric Fritsch on organ and guitar, Matt Crouse on drums, Jim Van Cleve on fiddle, and a special trumpet feature by Ray Tanner on the track “The Other Side”. Their collective talents add layers of warmth, grit, and soul to every song.

With "Wild Country", Surrender Hill invites listeners into a wild, yet welcoming, landscape of emotion, where the road is long, the heart is open, and the music feels like coming home.
